Życie na Ibizie przez cały rok

Jak wygląda Ibiza poza sezonem — szkoły, wioski, codzienność.

Życie na Ibizie przez cały rok

Most people see Ibiza for ten days in August. Year-round residents see a different island: 150,000 people, two harvest cycles, a working agricultural interior, three international schools, and a winter so quiet that Santa Gertrudis feels like a Provençal village. Living in Ibiza full-time is a choice for the off-season, not the summer.

The Two Ibizas: Summer vs Winter

June–September: 1.5 million visitors, traffic, €60 paella on the beach, ferries at every port. October–May: the island exhales. Restaurants close on Mondays and Tuesdays, the school run replaces the airport run, sunrise yoga and almond-blossom hikes become the daily rhythm. Many full-time residents leave for two weeks in August — the off-season is the reason they chose Ibiza, and they protect it.

    Where Residents Actually Live

Santa Gertrudis — the family village of choice, central, walkable, café culture. San José — large municipality with the best sunsets and the school cluster (Morna, Mestral). Jesús — practical, near Ibiza Town, undervalued. Talamanca — Ibiza Town living with a beach. San Juan / North — for those who want quiet, agricultural land and a slower pace. Avoid choosing San Antonio for residency unless you specifically want the bay views — the town is summer-only by character.

    Schools, Healthcare, Connectivity

International schools: Morna International College (British, 3–18), Mestral (Spanish bilingual + IB), King's College Ibiza (British, opened 2020). Public healthcare (Can Misses hospital) is competent; most international families add private cover (Adeslas, Sanitas) for €80–€150/month. Direct flights: London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt year-round at reduced frequency Nov–March. Ferry to Barcelona/Valencia for cars and weekend trips.

    The Honest Trade-offs

Pros: light, landscape, community, the off-season is genuinely magical, schools are good. Cons: summer is a tax you pay for the other nine months, winter restaurant options shrink, healthcare for niche specialties means Barcelona or Madrid trips, and the property market is small and emotionally priced. Best for families with school-age children, creatives, and second-act professionals — less ideal for high-frequency business travellers.
